Michael Smellie, the Chair of Music Australia announced today that the organisation has appointed Paul Saintilan as its new CEO. He will become only the fourth CEO in Music Australia’s 26 year history.
“Paul has extensive experience in the music industry, in both commercial and non-profit organisations, locally and internationally. He has held senior positions with EMI Music, Universal Music, Musica Viva Australia, and music education organisations. I am sure his knowledge, energy and fresh ideas will be great assets in tackling our ambitious plans for this year, and strengthening the organisation for the future. Our 2019 plans include presenting our annual Music: Count Us In event on November 7, and re-launching our National Contemporary Music Roundtable.
Paul started as a composer, a student of Peter Sculthorpe’s, and his formal qualifications include a music degree, an MBA degree and a PhD from Deakin University which will be conferred in June.
Paul commented: “I look forward to working with Michael and the team to consolidate Music Australia’s position as the overarching advocate and champion for all Australian music”.
Paul will take up the new role from April 2, 2019.
