Adelaide’s iconic live music venue Fowler’s Live has announced it will close in early December after a successful 15 year run.
According to The Music Network, Peter Darwin, the operator of Fowler’s Live, has been in negotiations for the past four years, and was advised by Government that he needed to reapply for a future tenancy.
In August, Darwin re-applied to continue but was advised last week that he was unsuccessful in his application.
Fowlers Live has carved itself a much needed platform for developing emerging acts and putting on all-ages shows. Recently, the venue had partnered with a local streaming service to highlight emerging South Australian acts to the globe. They also formed a ground breaking partnership with Austin venues in the USA.
In more positive news, Fowlers Live announced on their Facebook page last week that although the current owners will not be operating the venue past December, they have been made aware that new tenants have been appointed and live music will still continue in the building. The current owners have requested that fans of the venue do not boycott any shows once the new owners take over, as they would prefer their usual punters continue to support live music within the space.
