Music: Count Us In is Australia’s biggest schools initiative. Last year, the program broke all previous records as over 600,000 students from 2,500 schools celebrated music together on Celebration Day. With just over 5 weeks to go until Celebration Day 2017, we are well on track to increasing our national participation.
Celebration Day 2017 will be marked in every state and territory with major events in places like Surfers Paradise, Alice Springs, Hobart and Melbourne. The main national event will be held in Melbourne at the unique Deakin Edge, Federation Square. It will be hosted by our Program Ambassador John Foreman OAM and our 2017 Program Mentor Taylor Henderson. Our Melbourne event will be livestreamed to all participating schools across the country and will feature video packages from regional, collaborative and inventive celebrations around Australia.
Music: Count Us In strives to make music accessible to all students, from all schools, all over the country. The engagement of schools with students who have additional learning requirements is growing each year. The Auslan translation of this year’s program song, ‘Shine Together’, will be out very soon and the translation will feature in Celebration Day events across the country.
The Celebration Day live stream will begin at 12pm AEST with the synchronised singing of ‘Shine Together’ at 12.30pm AEST. View our 2016 Celebration Day live stream.
Registrations are still open and there is still plenty of time for schools to get involved in Music: Count Us In 2017.
