This week we celebrate our local independent music stores as part of national and global event Record Store Day.

These are wonderful places to browse for new music, try out instruments, receive expert advice, order that obscure album, and rubs shoulders with musicians and enthusiasts alike.

There’s loads of live music happening, many stores are putting on mini festivals from around 4pm, and watch out for Record Store Ambassadors Ella Hooper and Adam Brand. Get into a store and discover great music!

Record Store Day started in the US several years ago in response to store closures and dropping sales. Now celebrated across the world, the Australian edition is in its eight year, with stores across the country offering specials, unique releases and in store gigs.

It is foremost a celebration of your local music store and its role in the community, offering expert advice, what’s on info, and a rich selection of music to browse and purchase, along with live music in-store, and artists dropping by to say hi. So check out the exclusives, buy some vinyl or a CD, or whatever takes your fancy, and mingle with the.

We’ll see you there on – get on down and celebrate the physical on Saturday 16 April!

Here is what you can enjoy at Record Store Day this year:
