The Boite has invited vocalists of varied levels to join a Georgian mixed choir. The group will join up to seven other choirs for a performance at the Church of All Nations in Carlton on 19 June.
The repertoire set for study is comprised of three songs, ‘Gurili Perxuli’, ‘Makharia’ and ‘Ocheshkhvei’. Rehearsals, which started on 11 April, are being held every Saturday at 3pm until 13 June, at the St Mark Community Church (100 Hodgkinson Street, Clifton Hill).
Directing the choir are Nino Tsitsishvilli, a music teacher, ethnomusicologist and composer, and Joseph Jordania, an Australian-Georgian ethnomusicologist, evolutionary musicologist and Head of the Foreign Department of the International Research Centre for Traditional Polyphony at Tbilisi State Conservatory.
Interested vocalists should be confident holding a part in harmony and discord and be able to attend six rehearsals or more. To enrol in the choir, visit this page. Tickets for the final concert are available here.
