Perth Venue Action has launched a survey to help gauge public opinion of the city’s live performance scene. Questions cover a range of issues, including participants’ gig-going habits, musical tastes and views of what factors make a venue successful.
At the same time, the questionnaire addresses the group’s future directions, asking which areas require most action, from the protection of existing venues to lobbying for legislative changes to audience development.
Perth Venue Action held its first meeting on 23 February and appointed its first steering committee on 12 March. The group’s formation is a response to the closure of several of the city’s major venues, including The Bakery, which will hold its final concert on May 9, and Devilles Pad, which closed on 21 March.
